Dear GAFSU members:
The Global Alliance of Foreign Studies Universities (GAFSU) is the first alliance of its kind formed by higher education institutions worldwide with strengths in the teaching and research of foreign languages as well as area studies. Since the inauguration of GAFSU, 35 institutions from 19 countries have joined us and become GAFSU members. Through mutual trust and joint efforts, we aim to develop GAFSU into a world-class collaboration platform for foreign language teaching and research, area studies, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
According to the working mechanism under the GAFSU Charter, the GAFSU Secretariat, based at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), is responsible for the coordination of GAFSU activities. To fulfill GAFSU’s mission, we propose to launch a biannual newsletter for GAFSU members to share information and experience, promote mutual understanding and dialogues on a regular basis.
The GAFSU Secretariat, in conjunction with BFSU’s Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP), will dedicate ourselves to develop and launch the GAFSU Newsletter. The editorial board will consist of Board Director (Prof. Jia Wenjian, Vice President, BFSU), Executive Board Director (Prof. Ke Jing, Director of the BFSU International Office and Secretary-General of the GAFSU Secretariat), Associate Board Director (Ms. Zhang Siying, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of FLTRP) and Board Members (Heads of international offices or relevant departments from GAFSU member institutions). An editorial team will be formed subsequently and responsible for the editing, design, translation and proofreading of the GAFSU Newsletter.
