Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) recently hosted visits by the leaders of two Russian universities, as China and Russia mark the China-Russia Years of Education.

On Oct 12, Andrey Loginov, rector of the Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH), visited BFSU. Li Hai, secretary of the CPC BFSU Committee, and Zhao Gang, member of the Standing Committee of CPC BFSU Committee and BFSU's vice-president, met with the delegation.

Li introduced BFSU's history, traditional strengths and disciplinary development, and reviewed the two universities' cooperation. He said higher education institutions are an important force for cultural exchange and people-to-people ties, and that, guided by the China-Russia Years of Education, BFSU and RSUH have expanded cooperation projects in multiple areas with positive progress. He described the two universities' strengths as highly complementary, and expressed the hope that both sides would devote quality resources to raising the level of education and research, advancing cultural exchange and youth dialogue, and contributing to friendship between the Chinese and Russian peoples.

Loginov spoke highly of BFSU's academic standards and achievements in talent cultivation, and affirmed the shared historical traditions and common understanding between the two universities. He said RSUH attaches great importance to its partnership with BFSU and stands ready to deepen dialogue in all areas and further advance in-depth cooperation in their strong disciplines.

On Oct 15, Kortava Tatyana V., vice-rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), visited BFSU and was received by Li Hai.

Li congratulated Kortava on her appointment as an honorary professor of BFSU. He said China-Russia educational cooperation plays a vital role in promoting cultural exchange and friendship between the two peoples. He noted that talent cultivation cooperation between the two universities has deepened fruitfully in recent years as they jointly explore innovative disciplinary development, and expressed the hope that both sides would work together to raise the level of versatile talent cultivation and interdisciplinary research, and to cultivate high-quality talent and people-to-people ambassadors for China-Russia friendship.

Kortava praised China's development achievements and congratulated BFSU on its accomplishments in talent cultivation, teaching and research. She said she would work to advance in-depth, practical cooperation between the two universities, draw on their complementary strengths, create more high-level exchange platforms for faculty and students, and deepen mutual understanding between young people in the two countries.

Li also presented Kortava with the letter of appointment as an honorary professor of BFSU.
