The e-bulletin, In the Navel of the Moon, is co-sponsored by Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and the Center for Mexican Studies Center at BFSU. The cover story of the Special Issue (No. 25) is themed “80th Anniversary of BFSU”, which tells the story of BFSU’s development over 80 years. It also highlights the important role of Center for Mexican Studies in the past decade in promoting high-level cooperation, student and faculty exchanges, talent training, and language and cultural exchanges between BFSU and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
The Center for Mexican Studies was inaugurated in November 2012 as the first official cultural exchange and research institution of Mexico in China, aiming at introducing Mexico’s humanities, history, arts, society, science and technology to China, conducting bilateral high-level academic seminars, training Spanish translators and interpreters, and promoting educational and cultural exchanges between China and Mexico.
Since its establishment, the Center has achieved a series of cooperation and research results, held dozens of academic exchange lectures and seminars on China-Mexico relations, and effectively enhanced the all-round cooperation between the two universities in the fields of academic exchange and joint talent training. Important programs to be carried out in the near future include the UNAM-BFSU Lecture Hall, the Graduate Program on Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, and the launch of a multilingual collection of poetry by Mexican and Chinese women poets.
The e-bulletin is bilingual in both Spanish and Chinese. For students and faculty interested in cultural exchange between China and Mexico, this e-bulletin is highly recommended.
